Your guide to caring for your Yarn Know bag.
The Everyday Care
Your Yarn Know bag is handmade to be loved, worn, and taken places. A little care along the way will help maintain its shape, texture, and hardware. For everyday upkeep, gently remove any surface dirt with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth.
Avoid overfilling your bag, as repeated excess weight can stretch the yarn and affect its shape over time.
Got a Little Messy?
Life happens! For small marks or spills, spot clean first using cold water and a small amount of mild soap. Gently dab the area rather than scrubbing or rubbing, then remove any excess soap with a clean, damp cloth.
Avoid bleach, harsh detergents, stain removers, and other strong cleaning products.
When It Needs a Deeper Clean
If your bag needs more than a spot clean, gently hand wash in cold water with mild soap.
Avoid soaking the bag for longer than necessary, and never wring or twist the yarn. Instead, gently press out excess water using a clean towel.
Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
For bags with metal frames, hardware, structured inserts, or other non-yarn components, stick to spot cleaning whenever possible rather than fully submerging the bag.
Drying + Reshaping
While your bag is still damp, gently reshape it with your hands and lay it flat on a clean towel to air dry completely. Keep it away from direct heat, radiators, hair dryers, and other heat sources. Do not tumble dry or iron.
Avoid hanging the bag while wet. For best results, allow your bag to dry in its natural shape rather than hanging it while wet.
Show the Hardware Some Love
For bags with clasps, chains, feet, buckles, or other metal hardware, keep the hardware as dry as possible and wipe it with a soft, dry cloth when needed.
Avoid prolonged contact with water, perfumes, lotions, oils, and harsh chemicals, as these may affect the finish over time.
Storing Your Bag
When your bag isn't out living its best life, store it somewhere cool, dry, and away from direct sunlight to help keep it looking its best. Store your bag in its natural shape when possible, and avoid placing heavy items on top of it, especially styles with structured handles, frames, fringe, or hardware. Make sure your bag is completely dry before storing.
Fringe + Tassels
A little movement is part of the fun! If your bag has fringe or tassels, gently separate and smooth the strands with your fingers if they become tangled.
Avoid aggressively brushing or pulling the fringe.
A Little Extra Love
Your Yarn Know piece is handmade, so treat it like the special little thing it is. ♡ With the right care, your bag can keep doing its thing for plenty of outfits, outings, and adventures to come.
